Between 1856 and 1863 Mendel cultivated and tested some 29,000 pea plants (i.e., Pisum sativum). His experiments led him to make two generalizations, the Law of Segregation and the Law of Independent Assortment, which later became known as Mendel's Laws of Inheritance.

The largest scientifically measured Yellow Tang has been 20.0 cm and, as suggested by its name, the Yellow Tang has a bright yellow colour. It has a very deep body with a moderately protruding mouth. Young Yellow Tangs feature 12 upper teeth and 14 lower teeth, whilst the adults have 18 upper teeth and 22 lower teeth.
